Electronic control system
The electronic control system for the transaxle has some self-diagnostic capabilities. If certain kinds of system malfunctions occur, the PCM stores the appropriate diagnostic trouble code in its memory and the CHECK ENGINE indicator light illuminates to inform the driver. The diagnostic trouble codes can only be extracted from the PCM using a scan tool that can be linked to the On Board Diagnostic (OBD II) computer via the Data Link connector (DLC). Codes are listed below for reference, but can only be extracted with the correct scan tool connected to the Data Link connector (DLC) under the left side of the instrument panel (refer to Chapter Emissions and engine control systems for additional information).
