Front fender — removal and installation

1. Raise the vehicle, support it securely on jack stands and remove the front wheel.

2. On 2009 and earlier Lexus models, remove the front turn signal side light (see Chassis electrical system).

3. Detach the inner fender well screws and clips, then remove the inner fender well and mud shield (see illustrations).

4. Open the front door and remove the upper fender-to-body bolt (see illustration).

5. Unbolt and lower the rocker trim panel to access the lower fender bolt (see illustrations).

6. Remove the front bumper cover (see Body).

7. Remove the headlight housing (see Chassis electrical system).

8. Remove the cowl cover (see Cowl cover — removal and installation), and the rubber hood weather seal and fender trim fasteners along the top of the fender (see illustration), then remove the remaining fender mounting bolts (see illustration).

9. Lift off the fender. It’s a good idea to have an assistant support the fender while it’s being moved away from the vehicle to prevent damage to the surrounding body panels.

10. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check the alignment of the fender to the hood and front edge of the door before final tightening of the fender fasteners.
