Blower motor — removal and installation

Warning: The models covered by this manual are equipped with Supplemental Restraint Systems (SRS), more commonly known as airbags. Always disarm the airbag system before working in the vicinity of any airbag system component to avoid the possibility of accidental deployment of the airbag, which could cause personal injury (see Chassis electrical system).

1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal (see Engine electrical systems).

2. The blower unit is located in the passenger compartment above the right front footwell.

3. Remove the glove compartment liner, the glove compartment door and the right lower dash panel (see Body).

4. To remove the blower, remove the blower unit retaining screws and lower the unit from the housing (see illustration).

5. If the motor is being replaced, transfer the fan to the new motor prior to installation (see illustration).

9.5 Use pliers to release and remove the clip, then lift the blower fan off the motor shaft

6. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check for proper operation.
