Active Control Engine Mount — description and component replacement

Description

1. The Active Control Engine Mount generates vibrations that cancel engine vibration and reduces noise at idle. When engine speed is below 900 rpm, the PCM operates a vacuum switching valve (VSV) that uses engine vacuum to vibrate a diaphragm within the mount. The diaphragm transfers the vibration to a liquid inside the mount, which transfers the vibration to the mount’s rubber pad and the engine vibration is cancelled out.

Note: The VSV sits in front of the engine cooling fans.

2. Disconnect the two vacuum hoses and the large hose from the VSV. Label each hose to ensure proper reassembly.

3. Remove the valve’s mounting bolt and disconnect the electrical connector.

4. Disconnect the remaining hose and remove the VSV.

5. Installation is the reverse of removal.
