Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor(s) — replacement

Note: CMP sensors are only used on four-cylinder models. Four VVT sensors are used on all V6 engine models. See Variable Valve Timing-intelligent system — description and component replacement for more information about VVT sensors and the variable valve timing system.

1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal (see Engine electrical systems).

2009 and earlier models

2. The sensor is mounted on the side of the cylinder head, just below the valve cover, near the left end of the cylinder head (see illustration).
