Air filter housing — removal and installation

1. Disconnect the air filter vent hose, canister purge line hose clamp, the mass air flow and vacuum switching valve electrical connectors.

2. Disconnect the throttle body inlet hose clamp and separate the air filter hose from the throttle body.

3. Remove the air filter cover mounting fasteners or unsnap the retainer clips, then remove the air filter cover and duct as an assembly (see Tune-up and routine maintenance). Remove the filter element.

4. Remove the radiator support cover retaining push pins, then remove the cover. (see illustration). On V6 models, mark and disconnect any vacuum lines and electrical connectors.

5. Remove the fresh air inlet fasteners and pull the inlet out of the housing (see illustration).

6. Remove the housing mounting fasteners (see illustration), then remove the air filter assembly from the engine compartment.

7. Installation is the reverse of removal.
