Fuel pressure regulator — removal and installation
Warning: Gasoline is extremely flammable, so take extra precautions when you work on any part of the fuel system.
1. Relieve the fuel system pressure (see Fuel pressure relief procedure). Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal (see Engine electrical systems).
2. Remove the fuel pump/fuel level sending unit from the fuel tank (see Steering, suspension and driveaxle boot check).
3. Remove the sub-tank from the fuel pump assembly (see Steering, suspension and driveaxle boot check).
4. Twist the fuel pressure regulator from the assembly (see illustration). Note: It may be necessary to use a screwdriver to pry the pressure regulator from the filter assembly.
8.4 The fuel pressure regulator is a push fit in the fuel pump/sending unit assembly, make sure the 0-ring comes out with it
5. Installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure to install a new 0-ring (s) on the fuel pressure regulator.
