Fuel pulsation damper — replacement
Warning: Gasoline is extremely flammable, so take extra precautions when you work on any part of the fuel system.
1. Remove the engine cover (s).
2. Relieve the fuel pressure (see Fuel pressure relief procedure).
3. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal (see Engine electrical systems).
4. Disconnect the fuel line connector where it joins the pipe from the fuel pulsation damper at the end of the fuel rail (see Disconnecting fuel line fittings).
5. Remove the air filter housing (see Air filter housing — removal and installation).
Four-cylinder models
6. Remove the two damper mounting bolts at the fuel rail (see illustration) and the damper.

7. Installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure to install a new 0-ring and tighten the bolts to the torque listed in this Chapter’s Specifications.
V6 models
8. Remove the upper intake manifold (see V6 engine).
9. Disconnect the vacuum line to the damper.
10. Pull the locking clip out from the base of the damper and separate the damper from the fuel rail (see illustrations).
12.10a to remove the fuel pulsation damper from the fuel rail on V6 models, remove the retainer clip …
12.10b … then pull the pulsation damper out of the fuel rail
11. Installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure to install a new 0-ring onto the damper (see illustration).
